Williston Basin International Airport, known by the call sign XWA, officially opened to the public on October 10, 2019. Exactly three years to the date from its groundbreaking ceremony, making it the fastest commercial service airport ground-up project since the 1940’s. This project was a $273 million endeavor and was supported by U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives, State Government Officials, FAA Administrators, Governors, City Government, and community members who ensured this project was completed on time and on budget.
Cardon served as the Owner’s Representative for the City of Williston on this monumental project and remains heavily involved in the redevelopment of the land the previous airport, Sloulin Field, occupied. This 750-acre project called Williston Square will break ground in 2021.
